In 1974 Die Quip saw the need for die finishing equipment that would solve the problems of accuracy, speed, consistent repeatability and cost. Challenged to develop a superior line of equipment, Die Quip pioneered new designs and engineering for die finishing equipment specifically for wire, bar, and tube drawing.

Out of this industries need, many solutions evolved for die shops and the die industry. Custom solutions to die finishing problems have become the hallmark of Die Quip's design and engineering.

Today, many Die Quip innovations are considered the standard of the industry. As an example, Die Quip was the first to use an offset grinding spindle with a cone shaped pin that simplified the grinding of dies. This idea eliminated straight grinding as it was known at the time. The same idea has been incorporated into Die Quip's finishing machine which increases efficiency, accuracy, and eliminates manual machining.

Die Quip's innovative spirit has encouraged adaptations for the general purpose internal grinding industry. Adaptations of workholding fixtures like magnetic chucks, spin rolls, dual spindles, and dual direction rotary headstock are typical examples.
