Electroplated Diamond / CBN Grinding Pins & Wheels

Die Quip stocks a complete line of cylindrical and conical electroplated grinding pins in a variety of grits and your choice of either diamond or CBN superabrasives. We can also custom manufacture any pin or wheel to your specifications. All Die Quip electroplated products start with a high tolerance, ground tool steel blank for accuracy and strength. We then select high quality superabrasive powder from reputable sources and electroplate it to the blank with state-of-the-art equipment. This results in a fast cutting, American made, consistent tool that produces more parts at a lower cost than less expensive tools.

Bonded Diamond / CBN Grinding Pins & Wheels

Die Quips line of bonded tools includes cylindrical and conical pins for internal grinding along with straight and shaped wheels for outside or surface grinding. We stock a number of tools in a variety of grits from 100 to 3000 and can custom manufacture a wheel or pin to meet your needs. Die Quip has three different bonds for you to choose from; RESINOID (green) is a free cutting bond excellent for general purpose grinding of carbide, COPPER bond was specifically engineered for grinding carbide and ceramic to a mirror finish and is a hard bond that retains its shape well during grinding. CARBIDE bond is very hard and recommended for the grinding of tool steels. All of our pins are bonded to tungsten carbide shanks for the greatest rigidity while our wheels can be provided with an aluminum or Bakelite core.

Dressing Sticks

The efficiency and life of a grinding pin depends on keeping the tool from becoming "loaded" with the material being ground. To combat loading Die Quip has a line of aluminum oxide dressing sticks that can be used on the electroplated or any of the bonded tools.

Diamond Compound

Die Quips line of diamond compound is designed specifically for lapping tool steel, ceramic and tungsten carbide parts. Our compound cuts quickly, provides a superior finish and our concern for abrasive dispersion means each order of compound works the same every time. Die Quip uses only the highest quality industrial grease for our compounds base so it holds up against breakdown during lapping better than other brands.

Diamond Powder

Die Quip has two types of diamond powder to meet your needs. The first is a metal bond (MB) powder that is monocrystalline in structure, blocky and strong. This optimal shape and high strength promotes consistent cutting patterns with superior surface finishes. Our other powder is a resin bond (RB) which consists of irregular, semi-blocky shape and rough particle surface. These features allow for superior performance during lapping especially for heavy stock removal.

Diamond Slurry

Our diamond slurry is an oil based lapping compound that works excellent on small diameter tooling in place of olive oil and diamond powder mixes.

Conical Steel Angle Pins

Die Quip carries two types of conical steel pins which are blank and ground. Blanks are available in 1/8", 1/4", and 3/8" diameter with swage ground angles of 8°, 12°, and 16° that need finished ground before use. Our blank pins are significantly less expensive than turning pins from drill rod and are much harder to prolong pin life. The other steel pin is a ground tool which is ready for use. They are available in a wide range of sizes and angles.

Conical Wood Angle Pins

Our line of wood lapping pins are made from highly compressed layers of hardwood with alternating grain direction, saturated and bonded with resin. This provides a high mirror polish and performs like cast iron. We produce three different diameters: 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" in a wide array of angles.

Lapstock

Die Quip's lapstock is 3 ft. ( 7.6 cm ) lengths of precision ground drill rod and music wire in .001" ( 0.025mm ) increments from .003"-.375" ( 0.076 - 9.525mm ). It is used to put bearings into dies on sizing machines.

Wood Bobs

Die Quip's wood bobs are a highly compressed hard wood laminated in layers with plastic. The grain direction is perpendicular to the circumference to assure uniform lapping surface. Wood bobs are typically used with a hand grinder and diamond compound for fast stock removal or contour work of larger wire, bar or tube dies.

Felt Bobs

Our line of felt bobs are made from pure wool in a broad variety of sizes, shapes in a hard density. Felt bobs are used with a hand grinder and diamond compound to quickly produce mirror finishes in larger diameter dies.

Diamond Lubricant

Die Quip's diamond lubricant can be used with any oil/grease based diamond compound to keep it from drying out and maintain an even dispersion of diamond to produce a uniform finish. Our spray atomizer bottle is the perfect way to apply diamond lubricant or any other compound thinner.

Diamond Hand Pads

A tough resin bond anchors micron graded diamonds to premium, flexible backing for conformance to a variety of contours. Great tool for working on radiusing floating plugs and mandrels.
